This past week has once again been a busy one for Graddy Photography. We were on the road down to Gurnee, IL for the new opening of the Chicago Great Wolf Lodge. The mornings and evenings were brilliant but mid day was overcast and slightly raining. However that did not take away from capturing the richness and beauty of the area. This week was full of amazing opportunities, one was visiting Door County, WI for the very first time. Of course being from the Mid-West, I have heard many great things about Door County and it certainly lives up to its expectations. We were shooting for Glidden Lodge Beach Resort right on the waters of Lake Michigan. The weather was amazing and I was able to capture some amazing evening shots and early morning shots. The sunrise on the morning photos was 5:03am so the whole lake was lit up with this hazy pink glow at 4:30am so naturally I had to get up and grab the camera right away. This past week Graddy Photography headed out to cover a remodeled kitchen in Burnsville for Cold Creek Construction. So we never saw the before but I am sure it looked much different than this finely finished kitchen with all new cupboards, tabletops, backsplashes, and appliances. Well I narrowly missed eating copious amounts of Easter candy with my girls this past Sunday only to be hit in the face with this shoot first thing Monday morning....but it was AWESOME! I was asked to come out to a private kitchen and shoot a line of truffles that will be hitting the streets like crack here soon. No doubt these lil' beauties or shall I say "works of art" will do just fine selling themselves. Well this was certainly an amazing shoot! I was approached with the idea of the cover shot of this years Dining Guide for Grand View Lodge to be a rainbow trout dish. Of course I was excited because for one I am an obsessor of trout and salmon fishing as many of my friends can attest and certainly my wife ha and two....they are one of my fav dishes to prepare at home. What made this shoot so much more rich was the fact that I had a winter steelhead (rainbow trout) run planned only a few days prior and low and behold I was able to catch a dandy 8 lb. rainbow for the shoot. Also, we and my girls hand painted the backdrops leading up to the shoot for the cover shot which they were so thrilled about! We are very excited to grab a copy of the the Grand View Lodge Dining Guide!

Paradise | Best Destination Resort Photographer
What an amazing trip. The shots below are from our recent stay at Thatch Caye Resort, a private island resort 10 miles off the coast from Dangriga, Belize. Three flights and a boat ride later we arrived. We spent the week relaxing, going snorkeling, conch hunting (which the cooks fried up for us), kayaking, fly fishing for permit, tarpon, and barracuda, and soaking up some sun. There were only maybe 20 guests at any given time and it was cool to meet so many interesting couples from all over North America. It was pretty cool meeting and chatting with some people in the fly fishing industry who were there to scout the resort and fishing waters that surround it. We have never seen such beautiful colored water and the Belizean people were all very kind and more than accommodating....we will for sure be back!
