Local musician Howard Foss, age 67, passed away peacefully on his birthday, December 14th, at his home in Murrieta, California.  Howard left his musical career for two years to serve with the Army in Vietnam.  He was a demolitions expert and received five medals in the process.

As one friend said, “Howie was amazing!  One of the coolest guys I’ve ever met.  Swinging drummer, raconteur, chef extraordinaire, Twin City legend, boater, party director, Vietnam vet and friend to all.”

He is survived by his daughter Nissa Foss, her mother”Sam” Foss and grandchildren Jaxson and Lily McGrath of Murrieta, California, sister Bonnie Wood, niece Sheri(Wood) Lucas and husband Stan Lucas, great niece and great nephew Lizzie and Drew Lucas, all of South St. Paul, Minnesota.  Howard is preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Emma(nee Hayden) Foss.

On a side note, we are deeply sorry for your loss and wish the best in coping with the loss of your father.  We want to personally thank you Nissa for deciding to go ahead with documenting the funeral service.  We are thankful to have provided a service that will help you remember your father and to recognize his commitment to his country.  We are forever thankful of our veterans for their service and sacrifice!  May God Bless you and your family.

Stunning. I would have never thought to photograph such an emotional day but these photos are absolutely beautiful and capture the depth of love and admiration his family has for him. I am deeply sorry for your loss Nissa and I applaud you for your bravery for choosing to capture this day. As Im sure you will never forget this time in your life, your photographer did an amazing job and your memory of your father will always be complete.

Words can not express my sincere gratitude for what you have given me and my family. Although this was one of the most painful days in my life, it was also one of the most beautiful moments. To see my father FINALLY be recognized for his service was so moving. I will cherish these priceless photos for the rest of my life. I just knew you would be the right choice. For anyone reading this, Justin had his work cut out for him because the area he had to photograph wasn’t very pretty. Lots of background distractions with cars surrounding the area. But you captured the very essence of that day. You have a talented eye and saw the beauty in everything. I appreciate how caring and thoughtful you and your beautiful wife were! Thank you again….and again! Sincerely, Nissa Foss and family:)
